Shanghai-Bilbao Final Chess Masters is taking place at the World Expo exhibition in the beautiful city of Shanghai, China from September 3rd to September 8th.

The top two players who qualify from Shanghai will play in Bilbao along with Magnus Carlsen, and World Champion Viswanathan Anand.
It is a double round robin event with Sofia rule which means a win is 3 points, a draw 1 point and a loss 0 point. If two players tie for first, they will play a blitz match immediately after the last round finishes. They will play two games at the rate of 4 minutes with add-on 3 seconds. The time control in this tournament is The time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves + 60 minutes to the end of the game, with an increment of 10 seconds per move starting from move 41.

Gata Kamsky won the Baku Open International GrandMasters Open which took place from 23rd-31st August 2010. He scored 7.5 points where as GM Emil Sutovsky who has just returned from Poland after his coaching assignment played well in the event to finish second with 7 Points.


The 85th French Chess Championships took place at centre des Centre Novotel-Atria in Belfort, from 9 Auguest to 21 August 2010. Skrpchenko Almira won the Women Chess championship.
