Padmini Rout of Orissa won the bronze medal in the World Junior Girls chess championship held at Poland from 2nd August to 16th August, 2010.
Padmini played remarkably in this tournament downing many top players like Alisa Milikhina and in the final round she drew with highly rated WGM Cori Tello of Peru and earned the Bronze Medal with 10 points. Bhakti Kulkarni of Goa too was chasing a medal and at one point it looked she would certainly earn it. However she lost a winning game against the top seed Anna Muzychuk by blundering a whole knight. Bodda Pratyusha scored 6.5 points and earned 43rd place.
Anna Muzychuk of Slovenia won the event with 11/13. Anna was about to win the tournament round to spare but lost her way on the 26th move against WGM Cori in the penultimate round and lost the game. However she convincingly beat her final round opponent to win this prestegious title.
Russia's Olga Girya won the silver medal with a final round draw to end on 10.5 points.
